The fifth round of Formula Renault 3.5 in the Red Bull Ring Austria track was not the best for Malaysian racer, Jazeman Jaafar, although he ended the race in point position.

Jazeman, who is with the PETRONAS Talent Development program, finished in 10th spot, before improving in the second race, finishing a spot higher.

The success of completing both races and collecting points will help Jazeman maintain his third position in the overall standings, with a total of 90 points, 74 behind race leader, Oliver Rowland.

“I couldn’t get a better result with the existing engine. We are looking into the data to see the reason behind the loss of power, but one thing is sure, I did my best to end the race and gain ranking points,” Jazeman told Berita Harian.

Jazeman added that his time in the qualifying rounds were not encouraging, forcing him to begin in 15th and 16th box during the second race.

That prompted the young racer to work hard to earn points, instead of challenging for the podium.

The Formula Renault 3.5 race will take a 8-week break before returning to Britain for the sixth round in the Silverstone track.
