Eric Williams might be sacked, warns Melaka’s manager Datuk Wira Yusoff

JDT’s comeback is Melaka’s agony

Johor Darul Ta’zim staged a momentous comeback at the Larkin Stadium over the weekend, much to the horror of Melaka United.

The Southern Tigers netted a total of seven goals that night, thanks to a hat trick from Safiq Rahim, and goals by Amirulhadi Zainal, Gonzalo Cabrera, Gabriel Guerra, and Azammudin Akil.

The win ended their losing streak and helped the Tigers to regain confidence; after suffering a 1-3 defeat to Pahang, and a 3-2 defeat to Global FC in Manila for the AFC Cup Group F match.

While this was good news, scratch that, great news for the Tigers, it was a major wake up call for Melaka United. Melaka failed to step up at the Larkin and did not even manage one goal that night, conceding to a 7-0 score.

I’m shocked by their performance – Datuk Wira

Melaka’s team manager Datuk Wira Mohd Yusoff Mahadi expressed his frustration and noted that Melaka might consider dropping all four of their import players, including their head coach, Eric Williams.

According to Datuk Wira, the four import players did not perform up to expectations and did not making any impact during the game.

The four import players he was referring to are Melaka’s captain Ilja Spasojevic, Sergio Aguero, Godwin Antwi, and Jeon Woo Young.

“I’m actually quite shocked by their performance. They failed to perform when we needed them most.” Datuk Wira vented to BHarian.

The four import players were thrusted into game simultaneously to strike in full force against the Southern Tigers. Unfortunately, things did not go according to plan.

Eric Williams might be sacked, too

“We might consider dropping all four them. In fact, even Eric Williams might be sacked if he doesn’t make up for this by winning the next two games against FELDA United and PKNS FC.” Datuk Wira added.

Eric Williams stepped up as Melaka United’s head coach to fill the vacancy left by former coach Mat Zan Mat Aris last November. Under Williams’ reins, Melaka has won only two out of their nine Super League matches, drew two and lost five.

Melaka United are currently in the 10th place with 8 points, and are sitting on the verge of the relegation zone.

Will Melaka be able to step it up? Or will Eric Williams have to go? Let us know!
