George Boateng: Don’t blame players for PDRM defeat

Kelantan FA head coach George Boateng has leaped to defence of his players, claiming that they should not be blamed for the team’s 4-0 defeat to PDRM last weekend.

The Red Warriors went into the weekend as league leaders, but they were ultimately humiliated on home soil, conceding four goals against PDRM. However, Boateng claims that his men did everything they could and that the defeat was merely down to luck.

“They should not be blamed for the defeat because everyone, including the defenders, gave their all throughout the match,” he told Harian Metro.

“We were just unlucky tonight. We worked hard to score but luck was visibly on their side. But I promise you that we will do our best to bounce back against Perak in two weeks,” he added.

PDRM seized a 1-0 lead in the first half through Ali Ashfaq, before Dramane Traore made it 2-0 after the break. Ashfaq then netted his second goal of the night but Mohamadou Sumareh added icing on the cake with a solo effort to make it 4-0 at the end of the game.
