“Postponement of Perak vs JDT is a blessing in disguise” – Mario Gomez

Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) head coach Mario Gomez breathed a huge sigh of relief after his side’s Malaysia Cup match against Perak was postponed due to the bad haze.

According to Gomez, the decision came at the right time as players need to be monitored of their health, which can affect their performances for the club.

Besides that, Gomez also said that their preparations were still undergoing after returning from their AFC Cup semi-final match in Kuwait recently.

“The decision to postpone the JDT-Perak match is spot on because the players are tired seeing that they just returned from a 10 hour flight back from Kuwait.”

“The players have been granted 5 days rest and will return to training this Saturday, excluding few players who will join the national team camp including Hariss Harun, who is with the Singapore national side.”

“For the time being, Junior Eldstal, Nazrin Nawi and Luciano Figueroa are in the recovery process due to injuries and are expected to be out for quite a while,” he told Arena Metro.

Gomez added that striker Figueroa will not be returning for the second leg of the AFC Cup against Al-Qadsia SC, which will be played in Larkin this October 20.
