Usain Bolt beats Justin Gatlin to 100m gold in Beijing

Usain Bolt produced a sensational comeback win to beat close rival Justin Gatlin and clinch his third 100m world title in Beijing.

The Jamaican sprinter endured a horrific semi-final, in which he was very poor, despite winning it and booking his spot in the final. Justin on the other hand, was scintillating in the semis, recording 9.77 to make himself favourite for gold.

But when the final eventually got underway, Bolt was absolutely quick off the block, and was equal with Gatlin on the 50m mark. He then powered on to narrowly secure a 9.79 win, in amazing fashion.

The victory is certainly sweetened by the fact that Gatlin had been on-form throughout the summer, and was largely tipped to hand Bolt a run for his money in this championship.
