Ahmad Fazrul Sham claimed a third straight win in his CP130 race career after coming first in the sixth round of AAM Malaysian Cub Prix Petronas Championship, which took place at the Tuanku Syed Putra Sports Complex, Kangar, Perlis, yesterday.
After inconsistent performances for the past few seasons, the Yamalube AHM racer made it a hatrick of victories, after wins in Terengganu (fourth round) and Malacca (fifth round).
Fazrul ended the 18 rounds in a time of 14’15.696s, ahead of second placed Ahmad Afif Amran of Petronas Yamaha-CKJ, in a rain-soaked race.
“Racing in a these kind of wet conditions like today (yesterday), anything could have happened. I myself was not confident enough when I started, but gained more after regaining top spot,” explained Fazrul, as quoted by Sinar Harian.
Runners up Afif, has to be credited after he continued the race despite falling down twice due to the slippery surface.
“I only realized my position when there were 5 rounds left, and I was careful enough to not repeat what happened with the other riders,” added Fazrul.
Fazrul now leads the CP130 standings with 95 points, with Petronas Yamaha Maju Motor duo following at second and third place.
