National bowler Syaidatul triumphs in Malaysian Open

National bowler Syaidatul Afifah Badrul Hamidi took on the spotlight and won the Women’s Open title in the Malaysian Open bowling championships that was held at the Sunway Pyramid Mega lanes yesterday.

Syaidatul defeated back-up squad bowler Nur Syazwani Sahar 213-205 in an all-Malaysian step-ladder final; bagging the title as well as cash prize worth RM15,000.

“The win will certainly boost my confidence and help me do better during the SEA Games, if I’m selected. I hope to make the trip over to Singapore,” she told reporters.

“Though I was playing against a back-up squad bowler, it wasn’t an easy game because in tenpin bowling, there is no difference between a senior and junior. Any player can win, if they put in a good performance,” she added.
