#Bowling: Malaysia emerge champion at PWBA Tour in US

Malaysia’s national bowler Siti Safiyah Amirah Abdul Rahman created history by emerging champion at the recent Professional Women’s Bowling Association (PWBA) Wichita Open.

This crucial victory also makes Siti Safiyah the first ever Malaysian bowler to come out on top at the PWBA Tour.

Siti Safiyah’s compatriot, Sin Li Jane, also secured a podium finish as she clinched second place the Wichita Open. Li Jane was beaten by Siti Safiyah herself, when the latter finished 224-170 in the final.

Li Jane walked away with USD 5,000 as the runner-up of the PWBA Wichita Open. Siti Safiyah, on the other hand, bagged the prize money of USD 10,000 for finishing first.

“It’s a dream come true for me to be a PWBA Tour champion. This has to be my biggest career victory since winning the World Ranking Masters in 2009.” Siti Safiyah told The Star.

“I thought it was all over when I left two pins standing. Luckily for me, Juliana (Franco) could only hit seven.” she added. Siti Safiyah was tied with Colombia’s Juliana Franco, and they both had to battle it out for a place in the final.

The PWBA Wichita Open stepladder final was held at the The Ashwaubenon Bowling Alley Green Bay, Wisconsin, on the 25th of June.
