No rush for drivers line-up – Haas F1’s Steiner

Haas F1 team will be making its Formula One debut next year, though there appears to be some form of uncertainty on the driver line-up of the team.

However, Team Principle Gunther Steiner claims that they are currently in the process of scouting for potential drivers, and that he sees no reason to rush the process. Steiner then went on to provide a provisional date for the release of that information.

“Our plan is to be clear of talks by August or September and then announce them,” Steiner told AUTOSPORT.

“The market is getting clearer and a lot of people are getting into contact with us now, because it’s both ways. We are in no hurry, because we have to see who is on the market, who is doing good and who wants to move.

“And drivers want to see who we are actually. Now they see more and more that we’re doing the right things.”

The team is keen on recruiting American drivers, especially ones that are experienced, in order to strengthen their chances of doing well in their debut season.

One name that has been linked with them is Alexander Rossi, who used to complete practice sessions for Caterham and Marussia. He almost made his debut for Marussia at the 2014 Belgian GP, though a last minute switch crushed his dreams.

He is currently in talks with Haas F1, and appears determined to seize a race slot with the team.

“I think that what will do more than me saying anything is just going out and winning races and being on the podium as much as I can and that’ll prove to them that I am ready.

“I know that am ready, but they need the proof so I am more than happy to work towards that and to deliver,” he added.
