Alex Hofmann is set to become a KTM development rider, ahead of the Austrian factory’s 2017 premier-class debut.
“The seven years with Aprilia have officially ended. Next year I’m going to do the new MotoGP project with KTM.” said the former MotoGP racer and Aprilia tester.
The 34-year-old raced in MotoGP for Kawasaki and Ducati between 2003 and 2007.
His principle role at Aprilia was to help develop the RSV4, which has won three World Superbike riders’ titles, as well as the modified ART version used in MotoGP.
The KTM MotoGP prototype is expected to make its track debut in mid-to-late 2015.
