MotoGP helmet auctioned for £200,000

A ‘Stop-Cancer’ helmet signed by 12 past and present MotoGP stars has been auctioned for a record-breaking £200,000.

This record amount makes the helmet the most expensive in the world.

Proceeds from the helmet, which is signed by the likes of Giacomo Agostini, Angel Nieto, Valentino Rossi, Jorge Lorenzo, Marc Márquez, Dani Pedrosa, Wayne Rainey, Loris Capirossi, Àlex Crivillé, Wayne Gardner, Scott Russell and Randy Mamola, will be donated entirely to charity.

The riders that signed the helmet have won 58 world titles in total.

No other helmet has raised such a high price at auction, with the figure far exceeding previous records established by helmets from two other great champions; Ayrton Senna, which raised £74,750 in 2012, and Sebastian Vettel, which sold for £72,100 in 2013.
