Casey Stoner MotoGP test a ‘one-off’

Casey Stoner will get back on a MotoGP bike for the first time this year, as part of a tyre test for Honda at the end of the month.

The two-time world champion will fly to Japan next week, to take part in a two day test at the Twin Ring Motegi circuit. Stoner will be sampling a batch of new-for-2016 Michelin tyres, as well as Honda’s all-conquering MotoGP beast, the RC213V.

Reps for Stoner say there has been no talks on anything beyond the test rides, dashing hopes for his fans who remain hopeful that he could make a full-time return to the sport.

Stoner is said to be enjoying retirement, after sensationally announcing his departure from the MotoGP world at the end of 2012. He did however switch to four wheels, to compete in last year’s Dunlop V8 Supercars Series.
