The world’s fastest 109 youngsters hailing from 30 nations have been invited to and are currently at the selection event in Gaudix, Spain for the 2014 Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup, according to a report by the MotoGP official website.
The event will give riders between the ages of as young as fifteen up until twenty the opportunity to show their skills and earn a spot in the prestigious Rookies Cup scheduled to take place next year.
Tuesday and Wednesday will serve as the initial days, in which all riders will be given the opportunity to show off their skills.
A select group will then be invited back on Thursday for a second round of scouting, prior to the official pick of just 12 riders who will go on to ride at the Rookies.
Spain and Italy are the countries most represented, from which current MotoGP world champion Marc Márquez and former champion and legend Valentino Rossi hail respectively.
The Rookies Cup comes as a traditional precursor to the start of the actual MotoGP season.
Interestingly, however, none of the last eight Rookies Cup champions have gone on to drive in a higher division than the Moto2 World Championships.
