A new motor racing championship featuring electric cars has kicked off in Beijing, with its competitors including the son of former F1 champion Alain Prost and the nephew of his great rival, Aryton Senna.
The concept of the Formula E car has been strongly backed by some of the sport’s biggest brands, along with UK tycoon Richard Branson and actor, Leonardo DiCaprio, who have each backed a team.
The cars can reach speeds of up to 225 km/h (140 mph), although the drivers have to change vehicles halfway through the race because of a lack of battery power.
The first season will feature 10 one-hour races in cities worldwide, with the finale taking place on a street circuit in London in June 2015.
