“It’s cold but I’m excited!” – Faiz Subri ahead of FIFA Gala Awards

FIFA Puskas Award 2016 nominee, Mohd Faiz Subri has safely arrived in Zurich, Switzerland this morning as millions of Malaysians hope to witness a new milestone in Malaysian football.

The Pulau Pinang attacker arrived after a 14-hour flight from Kuala Lumpur to Zurich with his wife and two kids. Deputy President of the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM), Datuk Seri Afandi Hamzah also accompanied Faiz for the FIFA Football Awards 2016.

“Alhamdulilah, my family and I have arrived safely. I can feel the excitement despite the extremely cold weather. The schedule is packed but to me, I don’t think it’s a problem,” Faiz was quoted as saying by Harian Metro.

As soon as he arrived, Faiz was taken to his accommodation at the Kameha Grand Zurich to rest before an interview with FIFA TV and the awards rehearsal.

Faiz’s ‘physics-defying’ curling free kick during Pinang’s 4-1 win over Pahang on 16 February earned worldwide attention and a top-three spot for the Puskas Award.

The award ceremony will take place at 6.30 PM local time (1.30 AM Malaysian time).
