FIFA finally gives ‘green light’ for Faiz Subri’s baju melayu

After months of going back and forth on the dress code, Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) confirms that FIFA has finally given the green light for Mohd Faiz Subri to wear the baju Melayu at The Best FIFA Football Awards.

This was confirmed by FAM’s Honorary Secretary, Datuk Hamidin Mohamad Amin.

“We sent a request to FIFA last December, and we finally got the approval. I have also informed Faiz about this.”

“It’s up to Faiz whether he wants to wear a baju Melayu, or if he has to wear his sponsored suit at the awards.” Datuk Hamidin told Utusan Malaysia.

Faiz Subri has already ordered a suit from his sponsor, Kinslager, so wearing a baju melayu might stir up a conflict.

Faiz Subri is the first ever Malaysian nominated for a FIFA Puskas awards; and he is up against Marlone from Brasil and Daniuska Rodriguez from Venezuela. If he wins, Faiz plans to make his acceptance speech in Bahasa Malaysia.

You can still vote for Faiz Subri’s goal here until this Sunday, so let’s do this!
