Selangor 1-0 Kuala Lumpur: Adam spurs Red Giants to victory with late winner

Adam Nor Azlin was Selangor’s hero earlier today as he scored an impeccable late winner to help them seal a 1-0 win over Kuala Lumpur.

Zainal Abidin handed a debut to new signing Ugo Ukah today, as the Nigerian defender partnered Razman Roslan in the center of their defence. Predictably, the match was cagey for the first 20 minutes or so, until Hazwan Bakri’s missed attempt on the 21st minute, after an excellent assist from Andik Vermansyah.

13 minutes later, Hazwan had another opportunity, though this time around, his attempt rattled against the post. Mauro Olivi also missed a key opportunity moments later, as the score remained 0-0 at half-time.

After the break, Kuala Lumpur upped their tempo and began pushing harder on the offensive. Thamil Arasu was brought on to add more impetus on their attack. Even Selangor opted for substitutions, midway through the second half. Gopinathan was brought on for Ronaldinho, before Hafiz Kamal was introduced in place of S. Veenod.

But it took a third substitution from Selangor to change the outcome of the game. On the 86th minute, Adam Nor Azlin was brought on and he merely took two minutes to find the back of the net with an emphatic attempt, sending the Selangor fans into frenzy mode.

After the goal, Selangor sat back for the last few minutes and held on to secure a key win that effectively gets their Malaysia Cup campaign off to a positive start!
