After complementing Sony’s exclusive, Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, it’s about time we start talking about their major rival, Microsoft’s Xbox One.
It’s clear that the PlayStation 4 is dominating the market over Xbox One but with the newly released Quantum Break by Microsoft Studios, could this be the shift towards a newer and better Xbox future?
Let’s take a look at the game’s trailer below:

We know you might be thinking, “Why is the trailer built upon a live-action sequence rather than a traditional graphical sequence?”. Well, it’s simple, really. It is built upon a live-action sequence to provide gamers with the cinematic experience they get from watching films. The gaming industry is a pretty huge one now, with their budgets totaling up to an amount at par with highly successful films, so it is rather logical for them to produce games that are as successful, right?
As you all know, the familiar face in the trailer is none other than Shawn Ashmore, the actor who played the role of Iceman in the X-Men film series. Shawn takes the role of Jack Joyce, the main protagonist of the game who was the ability to control time, which is the main premise of the game.
The game is constructed as a third-person action shooter bundled with elements from a platformer where you get to make choices that will eventually decide the story of the game – similar to Until Dawn for the PS4.
After its release a few days ago, it garnered positive reviews from critics, praising the game’s overall gameplay, graphics, story-telling and it’s perfectly executed live-action sequences. The functionality of the time powers however, was panned by its critics.
However, this ambitious effort by Microsoft could be a risk well taken as it gives a whole new approach to the gaming industry, especially with their incorporation of the live-action sequences which provides a cinematic satisfaction to the gamers.
It’s like, watching a movie but with one added advantage – you get to control the protagonist.
Immerse yourselves into the world of Jack Joyce by watching a 30-minute gameplay video below. We guarantee it will not disappoint.
