Zulfahmi Khairuddin setting sights on Moto2 slot for 2017

Malaysian rider Zulfahmi Khairuddin is determined to display his best performance in the World Superbike Championships (WSBK) this season, in order to push for a Moto2 spot next year.

Representing Orelac Racing in the WSBK this season, Zulfahmi claimed his every move is crucial and that he needs to improve in every single race in order to achieve his goal.

“I want to focus in my WSBK career this year because my position next year solely depends on my performance this year,” he told Berita Harian yesterday.

“I hope that this year’s performance can help me get to Moto2 next season.”

The former Moto3 racer has recently showed quite impressive skills in the WSBK as he managed to secure seventh place in the second round of the Buriram Circuit in Thailand recently.

“This season is still long, I cannot be too satisfied with my performance right now. I have to keep on working hard. Right now, my machine is at its best.”

“A local mechanic is by my side and the team is trying their best to prep the bike to its best form during race days. So, because there is a local mechanic, we communicate better compared to other mechanics from other countries.”

Chief Executive Offer of Sepang International Circuit (SIC), Datuk Razlan Razali also hopes that Zulfahmi will be able to make use of the WSBK as a platform to make his comeback as a Moto2 racer.

“It is my dream and also his dream. He needs to make use of the chance to be more competitive and get back into MotoGP.”
