No one knew him before the 2015/2016 Barclays Premier League (BPL) kicked off. No one thought this player will even make a name on the international scene. No one thought this player would bring his club to the top of the table. And, no one ever, ever thought this player would break Ruud Van Nistelrooy’s record of scoring in 10 consecutive league matches.
But as of now, the whole of England knows his name. He has become a worldwide sensation. His rise to fame is so remarkable that a biopic film on his career is undergoing pre-production planning right now.
Ladies and gents, meet Jamie Vardy.
Famed British screenwriter Adrian Butchart, who was the director of the hit film “Goal!”, is in the midst of developing a script for Vardy’s biographical epic. According to DailyMail UK, Butchart is currently collecting personal experiences from Vardy’s personal acquaintances, including former Fox’s boss, Nigel Pearson and current England manager, Roy Hodgson.
Vardy himself has confirmed that the movie is in fact, set to go ahead. The 29 year old said that, “At the moment, the film does look like it’s going to go ahead,” as reported by The Sun.
So far, reports claim that actors Zac Effron and Robert Pattinson are Butchart’s top candidates to play the role of Vardy in the upcoming film. One Directon’s Louis Tomlinson is also within the crew’s radar.
According to DailyMail UK, Butchart sad that, “Zac Effron and Robert Pattinson are two favorites, however One Direction’s Louis Tomlinson is also very much on our radar, he’s apparently a great footballer, he can act and he’s from South Yorkshire so the accent won’t be a problem for him. In fact we hear he’s a Jamie Vardy fan, he even tweeted Jamie when he broke the goal scoring record in November.”
However, Vardy’s personal wish is to have former-footballer-turned-movie-star Vinnie Jones to play the lead role which will be sure to make viewers excited as he has experienced it all in both worlds.
It is believed that Universal Studios, Disney and Warner Brothers are all interested in financing the project.
