BATC: Malaysia sent packing after losing 3-2 to India

The national men’s team was heartbroken after being eliminated in the quarter-finals of Badminton Asia Team Championships in Hyderabad, India earlier today.

Malaysia came back from two sets down, but was ultimately beaten in the deciding set.

Zulfadli Zulkiffli lost the first game to Srikanth Kidambi 14-21, 15-21 at the Gachibowli Stadium.

Things became from bad to worse for Malaysia as Low Juan Shen-Tan Kian Meng were defeated by the pairing of Manu Attri and Sumeeth Reddy 10-21, 22-20, 16-21.

Team captain Iskandar Zulkarnain gave Malaysia a glimmer of hope when he brought down Ajay Jayaram 17-21, 21-12, 21-16. The team of Ong Yew Sing and Teo Yi Eee made the comeback possible as they defeated Pranaav Jerry Chopra-Akshay Dewalkar 21-14, 14-21, 21-12.

In the final set, Soo Teck Zhi did not do enough as he was ousted by Prannoy Kumar 12-21, 20-22.

The entire match lasted almost four hours.
