TSG’s Zamri Salleh to skip Le Tour de Langkawi

Captain of the Terengganu Cycling Team (TSG), Mohd Zamri Salleh will most probably be missing out on the 2016 Le Tour de Langkawi (LTdL) as he was handed the task of leading the Malaysian contingent in the Le Tour de Filipinas, which will commence tomorrow.

The cyclist and his team has undergone a month’s long of training in both Malaysia and Thailand to prepare for their first mission of the year in seventh edition of the Filipina tour.

“Apart from me, there are three other imports from TSG- Indonesia’s Dadi Suryadi, New Zealand’s Daniel Whitehouse and Mongolia’s Maral-Erdene Batmunkh- and one local athlete which is Nur Umradi Rosdi,” Zamri said as quoted from Utusan.

“I’m confident that with these three new cyclists, there will be a positive effect on the team because they are no ordinary cyclists. They all have achieved excellent results with other teams.”

“This would be the first tour for TSG this year. There is also a huge possibility that none of us will be taking part in the LTdL.”

“Personally, I’m not disappointed because that’s the best decision made for the sake of TSG.”

Despite his absence in the Malaysian tour, the role of captain would most likely be passed to 2010 LTdL’s ‘Sprint King’ Anuar Manan. Regarding the matter, Zamri claimed that Anuar would be able to elevate the team’s performance, which will serve as a bright chance to scrape a podium win.
