2016 LTdL: Andrea Guardini wins Stage Five in style

Astana Pro Team (AST) rider Andrea Guardini won his second stage at 2016 Le Tour de Langkawi (LTdL) after beating Skydive Dubai’s (SKD) Andrea Palini and Reinardt Janse van Rensburg of Dimension Data (DDD) in stage five today. This was the same exact podium finish in stage two, after Andrea Palini won the stage in Georgetown, Penang.

Andrea Guardini’s stage win means that he has now won 20 stages in LTdL history. The AST rider completed the 148.8km challenge which started in Tapah, Perak and ended in Kuala Lumpur in 3 hours, 18 minutes and 50 seconds.

Andrea Guardini’s AST teammate Miguel Angel still holds the Yellow jersey for General Classification after impressively finishing way ahead of his opponents yesterday.

The Italian cyclist retained his Teal jersey for Points Competition, after collecting 19 points today. Wang Meiyin of Hengxiang Cycling Team (HEN) also retained his Red jersey for ‘King of the Mountain’, amassing a total of 49 points from day one.

The best Malaysian rider of the day was Terengganu Cycling Team (TSG) rider Anuar Manan, who finished in tenth place.

The sixth stage starts tomorrow at Putrajaya and ends in Rembau, Negeri Sembilan.
