MSL Matchday Four: Felda remain unbeaten, Selangor secure maiden victory

Terengganu dropped the ball at the Sultan Ismail Nasiruddin Shah Stadium as they squandered a 2-0 lead to draw 2-2 against strugglers ATM. Paulo Rangel opened the score line with a spot kick, before netting another one to make it 2-0. Jerry Palacios started the come back mission by making it 2-1, before Christie Jayaseelan scored with 15 minutes left on the clock, to make it 2-2. The scoreline remained as B. Sathianathan’s side secured their first point of the season.

Perak continued their unbeaten start to the season after holding Kelantan to a 0-0 draw in Ipoh on Friday night. Despite playing without Namkung Woong, the Seladangs dominated proceedings early on in the game, before Kelantan had their own spell midway through the second half. Erwin Carillo missed several key chances, while Khairul Fahmi was equally diligent in preventing Perak from scoring. At the end of the game, both sides went home with one point apiece; which certainly seemed like a fair result.

Meanwhile, Selangor secured their first victory of the season by thumping PDRM at the Shah Alam Stadium. Hazwan Bakri opened the scoring in the first half, before Afiq Azmi made 2-0 just moments into the second half. Dramane Traore reduced the deficit for Azman Adnan’s side, though Hadi Yahya restored Selangor’s two-goal lead later on in the second half. Guilherme then netted their fourth goal, sending the fans into raptures as well as wrapping up a clear victory for them.

Johor DT came from behind to complete a pivotal 2-1 victory over Sarawak at the Larkin Stadium earlier today. Billy Mehmet initially opened the scoring on the 27th minute mark, though Safiq Rahim restored parity with a sensational free-kick on the 38th minute. But just few minutes later, the tenacious playmaker netted his second goal to put Johor DT and ultimately secure victory for the Southern Tigers.

Felda United also extended their unbeaten start to the season after drawing 0-0 against LionsXII at the Jalan Besar Stadium. The home start looked far better from the get go, through Felda eventually came into the game. The likes of Edward Wilson and Makeche looked largely ineffective, though their defence was solid enough to prevent LionsXII from scoring.

Sime Darby‘s terrible start to the season continued as they succumbed to a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Pahang. Despite dominating for various spells during the first half, they went 0-1 down against Pahang just before the half time mark, with Zesh Rehman finding the back of the net. Speedy winger R. Gopinathan then scored their second goal, allowing Pahang to cruise through the second half and effectively complete the win.
