National number 2 Low Wee Wern has booked a spot in the quarter finals of the Windy City Open after edging past Australia’s Rachel Grinham with a 3-2 victory.
Wee Wern took 58 minutes to beat Grinham 7-11, 11-2, 3-11, 11-9, 11-6 to seal the win in what was an extremely tight affair.
The Penang-born player has now joined fellow Malaysian and world number one Nicol David, who trashed qualifier Heba El Torky in the third round of the competition to progress into the quarter-finals.
Wee Wern will next face Egyptian Raneem El Weleily, who defeated fellow Egyptian Omneya Abdel Kawy with a 11-7, 7,-11, 11-8, 11-8 victory in just 44 minutes in the previous round.
