Lotus confident of new Mercedes-powered 2015 model

Lotus have just released a new Formula One car that is expected to be more competitive in the upcoming season.

On Monday, they revealed an image of the new Mercedes-powered E23 car, featuring a standard nose that replaces the ‘twin-tusk’ solution; which was largely deemed to be the reason behind Lotus’ struggles last year.

In 2014, Lotus fell to number eight on the Formula One standings after coming fourth and winning a race in each of the previous two seasons.

But as far as this year is concerned, things seem pretty bright with technical director Nick Chester claiming that the car is a massive step forward for the team.

“It’s no secret that we struggled with last year’s car so we’ve targeted every area that caused us an issue. We’ve made strong progress in the wind tunnel as well as in areas such as packaging and cooling,” he told their Official Website.

“We expect the E23 to perform far, far better than its predecessor.”

“We know we’ve made a big step. We won’t know how our car will fare in relative terms until we’re out in action at a Grand Prix, but we certainly expect to be much more competitive than last year.”
