Australian golfer Robert Allenby robbed and beaten in Hawaii

Australian golf star Robert Allenby is in the midst of recovering from facial injuries after being beaten, robbed, and dumped in a park in Hawaii.

Allenby, who was supposedly in Hawaii to compete for the Sony Open but missed the cut, was reportedly attacked by robbers after having a round of drinks with friends at a wine bar.

The 43 year-old revealed to the Australian Associated Press on how he believes that his drink was drugged because he woke up the next morning in a park; more than six miles away from where he was initially robbed and beaten up.

Allenby told Reuters that he was unable to recall the incident and that he was discovered outside the park by a man he described as a retired military officer, who eventually paid for a taxi ride to his hotel.

“I’m just glad to be alive,” Allenby told Reuters.

“I’m still in a bit of shock. I’ve been checked out by a doctor, and I should be okay.”

Fortunately, scans have cleared the 43 year-old of any severe facial or head injuries and he will be cleared to fly in the next two days.
