Lothar Matthaus slams Podolski for excessive tweeting

German legend Lothar Matthaus believes that it’s about time Lukas Podolski to live up to the hype surrounding his general ability, claiming that he’s been underperforming for ages.

The German international will move to Inter Milan on loan after finding it hard to secure match-time at Arsenal, and despite already having a myriad of accolades under his name, including the recent FIFA World Cup, Matthaus claims that Podolski needs to significant revive his career.

Strangely enough, Matthaus went on to take a dig at Podolski’s tweeting habits, claiming that it’s creating a shadow over his football career.

“Lukas has his qualities; now he must prove them by bringing them back to the pitch,” he said to Sky.

“In the past we heard how he tweets more than he plays. He needs to concentrate on football.”

But the 29 year-old refused to remain nullified on the issue as he prompted a response towards Matthaus via his Twitter account: “I find it very amusing that Matthaus should give me precise tips on how to behave.”
