Motorsport fans might be in for a treat as MotoGP promoter assured that Indonesia will secure a place in hosting a 2017 MotoGP race, provided the nation is ready to carry the responsibility.
According to Dorna CEO, Carmelo Ezpeleta, Indonesia have to meet two requirements; having an overall master plan and signing an MoU for hosting the event.
Both the requirements are to be submitted the latest by November, before the Dorna-FIM meeting, in the process of setting up the 2017 MotoGP race calendar.
He also added that other nations such as Thailand, Brazil, Chile and Kazaksthan are ready in line to replace Indonesia if they fail, but the promoter have Indonesia as their priority for now.
On the other hand, Indonesian Youth and Sports Ministry spokesperson, Gatot S Dewa Broto, insists that the government is looking forward to host the event.
“The minister is proud that Indonesia is entrusted to host the event, and we are truly eager to be chosen,” he said.
