Despite wet weather predictions, Zen Low and Fairuz Fauzy are determined to continue their mid-season race at the Fuji Speedway starting today.
Zen and Fairuz both join the long list of drivers in the GT Asia Series, who are always excited at the prospect of racing at the beautiful historic circuit which can test a true race driver.
The 2015 GT Asia Series season is the sixth season of the GT Asia Series championship. The Series continues with rounds five and six held from 17-19 July, where both the drivers will once again pilot the Lamborghini Gallardo FLII of OD Racing.
Zen told Sports247, “It’s a bit of mixed feelings coming into this as it is expected to be a wet race. Fuji is one of my favourite circuits, and it’s special to return here. I’m excited but not looking forward to the rain as Fuji can be extremely dangerous when it rains. The fog can roll down quite quickly and stay, reducing visibility. Rain and fog can be a ‘killer’ condition when it comes to racing.
Fairuz, who mostly raced in Europe prior to his Formula 1 stint, commented that it is only his second time in Fuji, but also admitted the difference between other tracks.
He continued, “In Okayama before this, we were on pace and have a good pace in the wet. So here in Fuji, we just have to remain consistent and to stay out of trouble.
“I am looking forward to a race weekend, but it will be Raya weekend (Muslim celebration after a month-long fast) and it will be my second time spending it at the circuit, away from my family.”
The GT Asia Series season continues for the Aylezo drivers once again in Japan, this time at Fuji International Circuit.
