Perak extended their brilliant form in the Malaysian Super League by securing a crucial 2-1 home win over ATM FA earlier today.
Having secured 7 points in their last three matches, Datuk M. Karathu’s men came into this match as heavy favourites, considering that they had the liberty of playing a home game.
They did not disappoint by getting the game off to a solid start as well, with Nurridzuan Abu Hassan handing them the lead within 22 minutes of kick off, with yet another brilliant free-kick attempt.
But ATM continued pressing as well, much to the surprise of the home fans, who were expecting a complete whitewash. That eventually led to a nerve-wrecking moment just before half-time as the away side restored parity through Venice Elphi.
After the break, Perak upped their tempo and were far more organized at the back. As much as a point would have been good, Coach Karathu’s anxious look on the touchlines depicted the collective desire they had as a team, to clinch three points in this one.
Their calculated forays into ATM’s defensive lines continued to grow in presence, allowing Namkung Woong to finally restore their lead on the 66th minute.
Despite seizing the lead, the Seladangs continued pressing and kept the ball moving comfortably, to prevent any form of backlash. ATM – to their credit – did try to mount several offensive attempts, but the Perak defensive line did well enough to hold their fort as they sealed a valuable victory to keep their excellent momentum going.
