Malaysia Super League Preview: Sime Darby vs Perak

If you’re a Perak FA fan, chances are that you’d be gloriously gleaming at this point. Perak have secured four points from two games since the restart, including a convincing 3-1 win over Sarawak last time out, which effectively got them placed 4th in the table as of now.

But this week is an opportunity to seize another set of three points. With all due respect to Sime Darby, their struggles doesn’t seem like it’s coming to an end anytime soon, despite their encouraging 1-1 draw against Kelantan. In that particular match, the Red Warriors were the ones who were guilty of dropping the ball, which allowed Sime Darby to claw back and claim a point.

Against Perak FA though, things are expected to be a lot more different. The Seladangs are hitting top form as a key stage of the season, and Chad Souza – who initially struggled during the early stages of the season – seems to be banging in the goals as well.

The threat will visibly come from Namkung Woong and Chad Souza, both of whom are capable of finding the back of the net. That being said, they would also be required to keep a close eye on Nurridzuan Abu Hassan, who is undoubtedly their creative spark on the flanks. And it goes without saying that Nuri would be dangerous on set-piece situations as well.

Datuk M. Karathu’s men also have an added incentive to secure victory tonight, considering that the three teams above them in the league table all have tricky ties this weekend. JDT will be taking on Pahang, while Selangor will be up against Terengganu. Chances are that one of them will drop points, so a victory for Perak could potentially push them into a higher league position by the end of Saturday night.

The stakes are certainly in favour of the Seladangs, but whether or not they pull it off, purely depends on their ability to remain consistent for 90 minutes, this weekend.
