Chong Wei: I feel bad for Wei Feng

Lee Chong Wei’s participation in the World Championships later this year will come at the behest of Chong Wei Feng and the former world number one claims that he understands the agony of his compatriot.

Wei Feng was officially dropped from the squad a few days ago, to accommodate Chong Wei, and the decision was made despite him being the highest ranked Malaysian player at this point.

Tey Seu Bock, who currently trains Wei Feng and was also Chong Wei’s ex coach, also laid his comments about the decision and suggested that it would be much wiser to send Wei Feng as he had missed out previous opportunities.

While Chong Wei understands Wei Feng’s dismay, he also urged him to remain focused on making it to the Rio Olympics, and even offered to help Wei Feng actualize that dream.

“I understand Wei Feng’s disappointment because I am also an athlete just like him. However, I hope that he will look beyond this and aim to thrive in the 2016 Olympics,” said Chong Wei as quoted from Utusan.

“I believe that BAM and all the coaches will help him qualify for the event. I will try to help him too in any way I can. I hope he does not give up,” he added.
