LCW needs to play by the rules- Khairy J

National badminton player Lee Chong Wei will be allowed to qualify for the Jakarta World Championships though Youth and Sports minister, Khairy Jamaluddin has called on BAM to make it fair for the other national shuttlers.

Chong Wei is currently ranked lower than Chong Wei Feng and Zulfadli Zulkifli and considering that Malaysia will only be allowed to sent their best two players, Khairy hopes to see LCW compete as a wildcard.

“I hope that the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) will appeal to BWF to allow Lee to enter as a wild card. He has to play in the Championship as he is a quality player, but it needs to be fair for Wei Feng and Zulfadli as well,” Khairy told reporters, after launching the partnership between Fitness First Malaysia and Fit Malaysia yesterday.

“It’s not impossible for Chong Wei to get the wild card. Lin Dan has been given the wild card on numerous occasions,” he added.

As of now, BAM have not released a statement, though it’s understood that they would not be required to exclude the participation of Wei Feng and Zulfadli, should Chong Wei receive a wildcard.
