Nicol David aims to open academy after retirement

Malaysian squash queen Datuk Nicol David revealed that she is looking to launch her own squash academy upon retiring from the sport one day.

While the world number one has no intentions of quitting the sport anytime soon, she is already plotting a plan for life after retirement, claiming that her involvement within the sport will continuously be existent.

“I will definitely be involved in the sport because it has been my passion since I was young.” Nicol told Sinar Harian.

“I would like to introduce the game to the younger generation and get coaches that will give them the guidance needed to make sure that their trainings are executed perfectly.”

Nicol also addressed the issue of gender imbalance within the sport and is determined to ensure that her academy plays a part in influencing more young females to be involved in the sport.

“It would allow them to believe in themselves so they can build on their confidence as well,” she added.

The Penang-born star is currently preparing for the upcoming Asian Individual Squash Championship, where she will be bidding to claim her ninth women’s title.
