Lucho Figuero & Safiq Rahim helped the Southern Tigers to three points when Johor Darul Takzim took on Kitchee SC in the AFC Cup 2015. This is the second time these two teams have met in the competition.
With 17 minutes on the clock, former Argentina striker Lucho Figuero managed to break the deadlock when he netted a goal, courtesy of a Safiq Rahim assist.
Kitchee then upped the tempo but found it hard to break down their opponents defence. After frustrating the visitors, Bojan’s boys were handed a gift when S. Kunanlan was brought down in the box by Kitchee’s Fernando Recio. Safiq Rahim slotted in the penalty in the 44th minute.
Kitchee came out after the break and looked the better team. Izham Tarmizi was the busier of the two keepers in the second half. Unfortunately for the visitors they failed to find a goal.
The 2-0 victory will now put the Southern Tigers a step closer to the knockout stages.
