Sim Bhullar makes history as NBA’s first player of Indian descent

Canadian-born Sim Bhullar has signed a 10-day contract with the Sacramento Kings, making him the first player of Indian descent to play in the NBA.

Bhullar, who was born in Toronto, played two seasons for the New Mexico state, clinching two Western Athletic Conference tournament MVP titles and led the Aggies to back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances.

Before getting called up from the team’s NBA Development League affiliate, the Reno Bighorns, he joined the Kings’ training camp, where he has been averaging 10.3 points, 8.8 rebounds and 3.8 blocks in the Bighorns’ fast paced system.

The 22 year-old is set to make his debut for the Kings this weekend when they host the New Orleans Pelicans, and upon doing so, he will be come the tallest man in the NBA, with a height of 7ft 5in.
