Perak 1-3 PDRM: Cops run riot in Ipoh

Perak incurred their first defeat of the season after falling 3-1 to PDRM in what was a topsy-turvy encounter at the Perak stadium in Ipoh.

The Seladangs started the game on a positive note, spraying passes around confidently, while looking to feed through balls for Bobby Gonzales and Namkung Woong. The South Korean in particular, was extremely intelligent in his movement, causing PDRM plenty of troubles.

But The Cops eventually got into the game as well, with Ali Ashfaq and Mohamadou Sumareh pulling the strings effectively. There were several key chances for them, though Muslim Ahmad came the closest to breaking the deadlock for PDRM, but his free kick was saved by Zamir Selamat.

Namkung Woong was then handed a glorious opportunity, but header missed the target by inches, allowing PDRM to regroup and launch another offensive. Towards the end of the first 45 minutes, Azman Adnan’s men started seizing initiative though the Seladangs held on to keep the score 0-0 as they went into the break.

After the break, Perak came out firing on all cylinders and that resulted in them seizing the lead moments into the second half. Nurridzuan fired an impecccable shot from outside the box, beating the PDRM goalkeeper to hand Karathu’s men the lead.

But the Cops were awarded a penalty just seconds later as Ali Ashfaq was brought down by Zamir Selamat inside the Perak box. Dramane Traore stepped up and dispatched the spot-kick effectively to make it 1-1. On the 55th minute, Ezrie Shafizie produced a solid header to convert Ashfaq’s cross, making it 2-1 in Ipoh.

Two minutes later, the Seladangs were handed a costly blow as Syazwan Roslan was sent off for a challenge on Traore. And as expected, Azman Adnan’s side took advantage of that to make it 3-1, with Dramane Traore scoring his seventh goal of the season.

From that moment on, Perak’s tempo visibly reduced, as PDRM dominated proceedings and while they were unable to increase their lead, they did enough to hold on and seize a resounding win that extends that solid start to the season.

As for Perak, their unbeaten run in the league came to a crushing end, and they will now be hoping to regroup ahead of their FA Cup tie against T-Team next week.
