BMW Malaysian Open: Caroline Wozniacki claims first title of the year

Former world number one Caroline Wozniacki secured her first title of the year after demolishing Romanian Alexandra Dulgheru in the final of the BWM Malaysian Open Championship.

The Danish ace triumphed over Dulgheru with a 4-6, 6-2, 6-1 victory to ultimately clinch her 23rd career title as well as her 4th WTA victory since losing the No. 1 spot on the rankings.

While the 24 year-old lost the opening set, which was interrupted by a heavy downpour, she managed to power through the following two sets to claim victory in an hour and 50 minutes.

The victory also meant that Wozniacki continued preserving her clean slate against the Romanian, having recently defeated her at the Qatar Open last month. She also pocketed a total of $43,000 from the win, while Dulgheru went home with $21,400.
