Nicol David in relentless pursuit of greater heights

World number 1 squash player Datuk Nicol David is not keen on resting her laurels despite recently claiming her record eighth World Championship title.

2014 has been a revolutionary year for the Penangite, who also claimed Gold medals at the Asian Games and Commonwealth Games, besides also playing a pivotal part in Malaysia’s run to the final of the Women’s World Team Championship.

However, the 31 year-old burning to desire to continue scaling bigger heights, hasn’t dropped a single bit, with Nicol determined to continue pushing herself next year.

“As long as my body is still willing and the desire to win is still there, I don’t think I want to stop,” she told the media shortly after landing at the Penang International Airport this morning.

In 2015, the squash legend will be competing in over 10 events, starting with the Tournament of Champions in January 2015. And while she is keen on focusing on international tournaments, her desire to do well in local events are is visibly high as well.

“Besides major tournaments like the Tournament of Champions, the British Open and the US Open, I also wish to do well in tournaments held in Malaysia,” she added.
