Nicol David was crowned Olympian of the Year in the women’s category at the Olympic Council of Malaysia-Coca-Cola Olympian awards.
The talented Malaysian was chosen for her two gold medal haul at the Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea and a gold medal at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games in Scotland.
Nicol however, was unable to personally accept the award due to prior commitments abroad, and was represented by the Squash Racquets Association of Malaysia (SRAM).
The winners of the award which was inaugurated in 1993 through a sponsorship pledge by Coca-Cola, took home RM10,000 cash and a medal, presented by OCM President Tan Sri Tunku Imran Tuanku Ja’afar.
