NBA says it won’t take action against players for Eric Garner protest

NBA will not be pursuing any action against a myriad of players who wore t-shirts as a sign of protest against the Eric Garner incident, prior to the game between Brooklyn Nets and Cleveland Cavaliers.

The United States of America has been beleaguered by protest over the past one week, after a grand jury decided against indicting the police officer who witnessed the death of unarmed 29 year-old Eric Garner, after he was restrained in a chokehold by the officer.

NBA-I-Cant-Breathe
During the warm up for the game, LeBron James, Kyrie Irving and several other players wore the “I Can’t Breathe” t-shirts, as a sign of support for Eric Garner, who uttered those exact words, moments before losing consciousness.

NBA star LeBron James said that wearing the shirt was “a message to the family that I’m sorry for their loss.”

NBA commissioner Adam Silver claimed that the players have every right to voice their opinions or dissent towards a particular issue, and that no action will be taken against them for their pre-match antics.

That being said, any forms of future protest involving t-shirts should utilize ones that are made by Adidas, who are the league’s official apparel provider.
