Exclusive: Sarawak to release Gabor Gyepes

Sarawak FA are considering the option of releasing Hungarian defender Gabor Gyepes, after he picked up a toe injury that could rule him out for an indefinite period.

The Crocs are currently preparing for the upcoming season of Super League, and Gyepes was very much part of Robert Alberts’ plans until news of his toe injury emerged.

Some reports claim that he could be out of action for almost six weeks, which would rule him out of the first few Super League games. But according to our sources, there is fear within the team that the injury could be aggravated in future, and could impact his overall performances.

Thus, it now seems that Sarawak FA are entertaining the idea of mutually terminating his contact, before pursuing the option of signing a replacement for the ex-Cardiff City defender.

This news comes as a massive blow, considering that Gyepes was sensational for the Crocs throughout 2014, forming an excellent partnership with Ronny Harun at the heart of their defence.

But beyond that, this also means that Sarawak would have very limited time to find a replacement, with the deadline for foreign signing registration ending next week.
