Inter sack Walter Mazzarri

Inter Milan have decided to part ways with head coach Walter Mazzarri after the club’s shambolic start to the new season.

Mazzarri has only been in the job for 17 months now, but with the Nerazzuris struggling at 9th spot in the league table, owner Erick Thohir decided that it was time to sack the ex-Napoli boss.

“[We] would like to announce that Walter Mazzarri has been relieved of his duties as first-team coach,” Inter Milan said via an official statement that was released on the club’s official website.

“The club would like to thank Mazzarri for the commitment, dedication and professionalism he showed over his 17 months in charge.”

Having joined Inter in 2013, Mazzarri guided them to a fifth place finish in the league. But having only won four out of 11 matches so far, his departure was expected by many sects of the Inter fans.

Rumours are now linking Roberto Mancini with a return to the Inter hotseat, six years after he was sacked and replaced by Jose Mourinho in 2008.
