Exclusive: Malaysian clubs in talks with ex-Man Utd midfielder

The Malaysian Super League could potentially be home to a former Manchester United midfielder, who is reportedly talking with several local sides on the possibility of plying his trade over here.

Liam Miller, who was part of Manchester United’s squad between 2004 and 2006, is currently on the look for a team, after being released by Brisbane Roars recently.

According to our sources, Sarawak FA and Sabah FA have had talks with the Irish midfielder, who was even down in Malaysia recently. Negotiations are still ongoing, though nothing concrete has materialized yet.

Should a move be completed, Miller will join the illustrious list of former A-League icons who are currently based in Malaysia, including the likes of Brendan Gan, Adam Griffiths, Ryan Griffiths and even Selangor’s head coach, Mehmet Durakovic.

Miller started his career with Celtic, before moving over to Old Trafford in 2004. After two largely unsuccessful years, he made the switch over to Tyne and Wear, playing for Sunderland. He then went on to feature for QPR and Hibernian, before eventually moving over to the A-League in 2011, playing for Perth Glory and more recently, Brisbane Roars.
