Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo claims that its only a matter of time before he surpasses Raul as the all-time top scorer in the Champions League.
Raul currently holds the record at 71 goal, and Ronaldo fired his 70th strike in the 3-0 win over Liverpool last night, which also gives him an edge over Lionel Messi, who is close behind with 69 goals.
But Ronaldo insists that he’s not putting enormous pressure on himsef for this particular record as he’s confident of beating it soon.
“I am not worried about [the record]. I know I’m going to beat the record, if not tonight then some other game. Messi is very close too.”
Most of the pre-match talks focused on how Liverpool have an excellent record against Los Blancos, though Ronaldo claimed that the score line reflected their dominance in an excellent win.
“It’s a team game. We have nine points, 75 per cent of the qualification is done. It was special, my first goal here at Anfield and I feel very proud for that. We got the three points, it was amazing.
“We knew before the game that Liverpool at Anfield is difficult but we played fantastic, especially in the first 45 minutes and we deserved to win.”
