Berankis Upsets Raonic In Moscow

World No. 116 Ricardas Berankis beat Milos Raonic 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 in the second round of the Kremlin Cup. The Lithuanian qualifier withstood 15 aces from Raonic, to record his first Top 10 in one hour and 53 minutes.

Raonic was not the only seed to tumble, as World No. 74 Mikhail Kukushkin also ousted fourth seed Fabio Fognini 6-4, 6-2 in 76 minutes. The Kazakhstani is coming off an impressive showing in Shanghai, where he stretched Novak Djokovic to three sets in the third round.

Seeds Ernests Gulbis and Tommy Robredo fared better, with Gulbis advancing to the quarter-finals after a 6-3, 7-6(3) victory over Daniel Gimeno-Traver, and the sixth-seeded Robredo setting a quarter-final clash with Marin Cilic after beating Filip Krajinovic 6-3, 6-4 in 59 minutes.

Meanwhile, seventh seed Mikhail Youzhny defeated Argentine Juan Monaco 6-3, 7-6(6). The 2009 champion goes on to face Mikhail Kukushkin for a berth in the semi-finals.
