Jules Bianchi remains in critical condition, but his family is certain the Marussia driver will continue to fight.
The 25 year old is currently in intensive care at a hospital in Japan with severe head injuries, after crashing into a recovery vehicle at the Japanese Grand Prix.
In an interview with Italian paper, La Gazzetta dello Sport, his father admits they fear the worse every time the phone rings. Phillipe Bianci says the situation is desperate, but they remain hopeful that he will pull through.
He adds, that doctors at Yokkaichi’s Mie General Medical Centre have dubbed the tragedy a ‘miracle’, as no one had ever survived such a serious accident.
21 drivers took part in a tribute to Bianchi on the grid before last weekend’s Russian Grand Prix, to honour him and his family. Phillipe says they were deeply touched by the strong show of support from the likes of Fernando Alonso, Jean-Eric Vergne, Felipe Massa, Lewis Hamilton, and those in the F1 paddock and beyond.
To date, there has been no new update on Bianchi’s condition.
