English Grand Prix motorcycle racer Scott Redding has signed a two year contract with new team MarcVDS for the upcoming 2015 MotoGP season.
Redding will ride on a factory class bike in 2015, moving away from an open class bike which has long been the bike type he has opted for.
The man from Gloucester previously rode with MarcVDS for Moto2 on the Suter-Honda bike between 2011 and 2013, missing out narrowly on winning the Moto2 world title in 2013.
Speaking to the press, VDS president Marc van der Straten expressed his delight at and gratitude for the young man re-signing with his old team.
“I am excited about this new project, especially as it means a return to Marc VDS racing family of Scott Redding with whom we enjoyed a long and successful association in Moto2” van der Straten stated.
His sentiments were echoed by team principal Michael Barholemy, with whom Redding worked closely in Moto2 as well.
“I would like to say a big thank you to everyone that has helped us to achieve our aim of racing in the premier MotoGP class, with what is clearly the most competitive bike available” Barholemy added after der Straten.
Redding will line up for VDS at the first event of the 2015 MotoGP calendar at the Losail International Circuit in Doha, at the Grand Prix of Qatar.
