The Washington Wizards’ hopes for a quick start to the season were dashed by the loss of Bradley Beal, who is expected to miss as much as six to eight weeks after breaking his left wrist.
He is expected to undergo surgery within the next few days.
The team’s guard suffered the injury during Friday (October 10th) night’s exhibition game against the Charlotte Hornets, after their swingman, P.J Hairston fouled him in the first quarter. The game saw the Hornets take a slim win over the Wizards, 99-86.
Initially, Beal’s injury was diagnosed as a sprained wrist, but a more detailed examination later found a small fracture in the wrist. Beal is said to be hoping to avoid surgery, and is waiting for final results after physicians further evaluated the scope of his injury.
The 21 year old is one of the Wizard’s key players, after averaging more than 17 points a game last season.
